I’ve been interested in classic menswear since childhood, though I started out making every mistake possible — mismatched pieces, poor fits, bad choices. Working as a photographer brought me close to menswear designers and tailors, from whom I learned a great deal. Over time, I moved deeper into the industry, producing content for leading menswear brands and collaborating directly with tailors to refine my own wardrobe.
I’ve commissioned dozens of suits, from structured three-pieces to unlined linen jackets for tropical heat. After 20 years in Shanghai — where temperatures swing from 44ºC to -3ºC — I’ve built a wardrobe that works from the cold winds of Dublin to the humidity of Singapore.
My long relationships with tailors and years of study, from both their craft and specialist books, have given me a grounded, practical understanding of menswear. While I enjoy YouTube like everyone else, my knowledge comes mainly from the written word — sources that are tested and reliable.
